Evil Geniuses Replace Sumail After 5 Years

After repping purple for almost 5 years, Pakistan-born Dota 2 Sensation Sumail “Sumail” Hassan also known as the King of Dota 2 is parting ways with Evil Geniuses. Sumail rose to quick fame in his hometown in Pakistan ever since winning the Dota 2 Asian Championship with EG in 2015 and has been playing for them ever since.

What came as a surprise to many, when Evil Geniuses announced their roster for 2019-2020 DPC season, Sumail’s name was missing along with his teammate Gustav “S4” Magnusson. In their place, we saw the likes of Abed “Abed” Yusop from Fnatic and Roman “Ramzes666” Kushnarev from Virtus. Pro. So as it stands the EG line-up looks like this:

  1. Artour “Arteezy” Babaev
  2. Abed “Abed’ Yusop
  3. Roman “Ramzes666” Kushnarev
  4. Andreas “Crit” Nielsen
  5. Tal “Fly” Aizik

Regarding the departure of the two stars, EG said, “Both have earned an incredible amount of respect and appreciation here at EG for their results and the effort they’ve put into the team; we’re confident that they will find themselves surrounded by capable teammates,” and even thanked them individually on Twitter while also putting up a compilation of some of Sumail’s best plays for them.

Sumail also expressed his gratitude for EG by tweeting, “It was a wild ride for almost 5 years on @EvilGeniuses. The team I started my career and was planning to end it on. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. Goodluck to EG, and yeah, LOVE YOU ALL for mad support. I'm not taking a break/retiring that goes without, doesn't it?

Where do you think is Sumail heading next?
