IS CS 1.6 KILLING OUR GAMING COMMUNITY

It is no secret that Counter-strike is one of the biggest and most-played video games ever created and the fact that even though it was released years ago it is still nominated in the Game Awards 2019 is proof of that. Despite being 8 years old, the game is still cherished and played at the highest levels in Esports to the point that the WESG CS:GO finals is set to feature a prize pool of A MILLION DOLLARS.

Now as far as Pakistan is concerned, we do have some talented teams out of which two of them that you must have heard of go by the name of Portal Esports and GamingHub but they too haven’t really been able to make a name for themselves in the international scene. In the first paragraph, we mentioned the WESG and I am sure a lot of you would know that recently GamingHub PK did play the qualifiers but were unfortunately knocked out by an Indian Esports team, Global Esports.

Now the question have often wandered our minds that why is it that we never get international success in CS: GO like we have recently had in Tekken through the likes of Arslan Ash and Awais Honey. One reason that we came up with is the lack of competition. We see the same old names rotating in CS: GO rosters and we believe that a big reason behind this is that the majority of gaming zones in Pakistan still only have CS 1.6 and their PCs do not support CS: GO. This is because most of the gaming zone owners are more concerned about making business rather than making an Esports culture.

Now trust me when I say that I have seen players clutch whole games repeatedly and consistently on their own on 1.6 and are outstandingly talented but have never really played CS: GO. Now if such players are brought on to CS: GO just imagine the amount of talent Pakistan can create, the competition within the country, and how strong will our representation be on an international level.

Now not to mean any offence to anyone but we do believe that the time is right to leave the past behind, boycott CS 1.6 and move on to the game that is an actual Esports, THE CS: GO.
