Zain Ali Shah - Professional FIFA Player

ZAS – TAKING PAKISTAN’S FIFA SCENE BY STORM

Introduction

If you’ve taken part in any major FIFA tournament in Karachi you’ve probably heard of Zain Ali Shah, the 18-year-old A-Level student is the player to look out for whether it is a physically organized tournament in K-Town or nationwide online tournaments. If we talk figures, Zain has won an estimated combined sum of 300,000PKR (yeah, you read that right and no we did not mistakenly put an extra zero there) inclusive of 30 offline tournaments, countless online ones and the price of the tickets he won from the qualifiers of AGFC. Atrium, Nust, Enigma, Battle X, Next Gen, you name it he has won it all, but the jewel of the crown is carrying our green and white flag to Singapore for AGFC.

What does it take to be the best?

Hard work, dedication, humility and a bit of luck. Speaking with Zain we can confirm even after winning all that he is as humble as one can be and emphasized on other great players of Pakistan that deserve the spotlight as much as him; Zia Ali, Zubrain Aamir, Abdullah Waseem, Abdullah Nadeem and Mohammad Bin Usman to name a few. Among all the great players he had clashed with, the toughest challenge came from Zohaib Mughal who taught Zain how to deal with tournament pressure amongst other things and it seems to us he taught him well since we very recently witnessed him single-handedly dominate the FIFA tournament at NU-FEST. Bless our eyes, for we have witnessed beautiful football!

How did it start?

Zain started off by playing Fifa 2002 with his uncle and well, the rest is history. With the talented players of FC Barcelona at his disposal, Zain took every challenge head on and almost always came on top. He considers himself lucky to have the constant support of his family and his uncle in particular who made him fall in love with FIFA (Thank you uncle for blessing us with this talent!)

Problems and vision:

According to Zain, the problems faced by Pakistani FIFA players is that EA does not have dedicated servers for Pakistan which in turn gives us a very frustrating game-play at times because of delay and lag and we couldn’t agree more. Secondly, there is no PayPal in Pakistan and many global online tournaments use PayPal as a mode of payment (Asad Umar where you at?)

He envisions Pakistan to perform on the grandest stages with the talent we have but according to him we desperately need a dedicated professional platform (Ahem ahem, that’s what PCG is here for)

We wish Zain Ali Shah and all the FIFA players of Pakistan all the best for the future tournaments. We trust you all have what it takes to lift the game.

”PLAY HARD, PLAY TRUE!”
